Eligibility for Services

The Library is pleased to extend borrowing privileges to qualified individuals in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Special Researcher status is contingent upon approval by the Library Director and has a $100 annual fee. This fee is reduced or waived based on the following schedule:

Special Researcher $100
Graduate student, not affiliated with ATS/ATLA $75
Graduate student, ATS/ATLA-affiliated    $50
Graduate student, ATLA reciprocal borrowing program waived
Local clergy  $35
Local clergy  — UMC waived

Local clergy must (a) provide documentation that they are currently authorized for ministry and (b) reside or have a ministry setting within a 50 mile radius of Washington, DC.

All privileges must be renewed on an annual basis. Overdue fines or other factors may have an impact on eligibility for renewal.


Borrowing & Access Privileges

Special Researchers receive borrowing privileges and can check out resources from the Library's regular circulating collection. 

   Book Loan Period:                   28 days
   A/V Loan Period:                      7 days
   Maximum Number of items:     25

Special Researchers are welcome to use our electronic resources while on-campus. However, due to licensing restrictions, off-campus access is restricted to Wesley students, staff, and faculty.

Special Researchers are not eligible for Inter-Library Loan (ILL) services.
