Doctor of Ministry Project Papers

Papers produced by the D.Min. program at Wesley Theological Seminary

Advanced Search

Unlike the Basic Search screen, the Advanced Search screen provides tools to help you develop more complex searches. With the Advanced Search, you can:

  • enter terms in multiple search boxes.
  • select and search multiple indexes simultaneously.
  • select and apply Boolean operators (ANDORNOT) to control how terms should or should not be used in the search.

Using the Advanced Search, this example demonstrates a search for D.Min. project papers about the bible and children that do not include teenagers.

  • The terms biblechildren, and teenagers are entered into the search boxes.
  • The Keyword index is selected for each term.
  • To ensure that only D.Min. project papers are in the results, the terms ("d.min.") and ("wesley theological seminary") are entered in the search boxes to be searched as keyword phrases.
  • The Boolean operator AND joins the terms bible, children, ("d.min."), and ("wesley theological seminary"). The Boolean operator NOT is applied to exclude teenagers from the results.

The system returned one result based upon the search criteria and highlighted the relevant terms in the item record.

Expanded Search

When WorldCat Discovery finds terms related to your search terms, it will ask you if you want to expand your search.

In this case, the system expanded the original search by including the related term child.

Limits

The Advanced Search screen provides filters that can be applied prior to your search to limit search results. In contrast, the Basic Search filters are applied after the completion of a search to refine the search results.

Use the Search Tools to filter your search results by:

  • Format
  • Publication Year
  • Language
  • Audience
  • Content type
  • Held By Library
