WorldCat Discovery User Guide

The library places course textbooks and other faculty requests on Course Reserves. The material has a specific loan period (usually two-hours) to ensure that all students have access to required readings. WorldCat Discovery has a Course Reserves feature that provides a searchable list of courses with items that are on reserve. [Note: Course Reserves lists may not contain all required course readings. Refer to the current course syllabus.] 

To access Course Reserves, click on the Course Reserves link in the navigation menu.

The link redirects to the Course Reserves screen which lists the active courses that have items on reserve.  

On the Course Reserves screen, you can sort the list by the:

• course name.
• department.
• instructor.
• start date of the course. 

You can also use the search box to search by the course or instructor.

Clicking on a course title link redirects you to a list of the items on reserve for the course. The display will show:

• the title of the course.
• the number of materials for the course.
• the instructor's name.
• the department.
• the start and end dates of the course.
• a brief description of the material.
• the location of the material (Circ - Reserve Shelf).
• the status or availability of the item.

[Note: eBooks are placed on a course reserve list to help students find and access them more quickly. While loan limits do not apply, licensing limits set by the publisher may affect the availability of an eBook (e.g., 1 limit user vs. unlimited users licenses).
