WorldCat Discovery User Guide

This guide provides an overview to WorldCat Discovery at the Wesley Theological Seminary Library.

How Do I Find eBooks?

There are a number of ways to find and access eBooks through the library's subscription databases. You can access eBooks through:

  • Discovery A-Z.
  • the library's eBooks Collections section on the Online Resources page.
  •  WorldCat Discovery. By default, WorldCat Discovery searches all of the library's collections of print, non-print, and digital material. If the library has a print copy and a digital copy of the same title, access options will display for both in the results display. When you perform the Basic and Advanced searches, you can filter the results to show only eBooks.

Searching for eBooks in Discovery A-Z

1. Begin at the Discovery A-Z screen and select the eBooks link.

2. Enter the title of the eBook and select the search type.

[Note: If punctuation is in the title, you may need to include it in the search to get results. While WorldCat Discovery tends to ignore punctuation, Discovery A-Z may not. For example, a search for womens bible commentary does not yield results, but a search for women's bible commentary with the apostrophe does.]

3. The system returns results that match the search criteria. Click on the title link.

4. The system displays a detailed item record with the access link.

5. Clicking on the View Full Text link redirects to the item record in the eBook Collection database.

6.  The format for this eBook is EPUB. Unlike the a PDF, an EPUB full-text document does not always replicate the layout of a physical book. If you need the correct pagination for research, consult an eBook in the PDF format or the physical book.
