WorldCat Discovery User Guide

This guide provides an overview to WorldCat Discovery at the Wesley Theological Seminary Library.

How Do I Find Articles?

Discovery A-Z is one way to search for articles in WorldCat Discovery. You can use the Basic or Advanced searches and apply the "Article, Chapter" filter. In addition, you can find articles by using the Journals Search in Discovery A-Z. Use Discovery A-Z only if you have all of the following:

  • article title
  • author(s) name(s)
  • journal/publication title
  • ISSN (International Standard Serial Number)
  • publication date, volume, and issue

Even with all of these elements, the system may not retrieve a full-text article. Instead, you may be redirected to the publisher or database that lists the publication volumes and issues that meet your search criteria.

1. Begin at the Discovery A-Z screen and click on the Articles link.

2. For accurate search results, enter the:

  • article title
  • author(s) name(s)
  • journal/publication title
  • ISSN (International Standard Serial Number)
  • publication date, volume, and issue

3. In this case, the system did not return the full-text article, but redirected to the database hosting the publication.

4. Clicking on the volume and issue link redirects to the full-text article.
